How to Drop the Index in Snowflake

Snowflake will not use indexes. This is one of the features that will make Snowflake suitable for random queries. Thus, rather than creating and dropping the indexes in Snowflake, we will use the Clustering Keys. In this blog, we will discuss dropping the clustering keys.

Drop the Index in Snowflake

Snowflake does not support indexes. But in specific situations, we can use the clustering keys as a substitute for Indexes. For dropping the clustering key, we use “ALTER TABLE .. DROP CLUSTERING KEY” command:

Syntax:

alter table table_name drop clustering key;

Example:

alter table active_users drop clustering key;
